Dobbit Bakehouse
Dobbit Bakehouse has had a prominent presence in the heart of the Musquodoboit Harbour village since 2008. You almost certainly already know how tasty their treats are – from breads, muffins, scones, and cookies to squares, pastries, pies, cupcakes and more! Plus organic, Fair Trade coffee, tea and hot chocolate!
What you might not know is that owner Paul Nicholl actually spent over 20 years in the Technology industry before taking the Boulanger program at NSCC, and pursuing his lifelong dream of opening an artisan bakery.
Paul is committed to environmentally sustainable business practices and wherever possible sources local, certified organic ingredients. He promises that you won’t find any additives in his recipes that you won’t be able to pronounce! Coupled with the bakery’s focus on reducing, reusing, recycling, and a thorough approach to composting, their motto of “Local. Natural. Needs” is decidedly authentic.
Giving back to the community is also an important focus at Dobbit Bakehouse. They are able to donate 33 loaves of bread monthly to the Musquodoboit Harbour Food Bank by partnering with their suppliers who donate the ingredients, while the bakery donates their facility, time, and expertise to prepare the bread.
The recipient of an award for 2019 RBC Business Leader of the Year at an MHACCCA Gala, and a participant of the recent Chamber Bucks program, Paul at Dobbit Bakehouse is a valued member of the MHACCCA and we would like to thank him for his contributions to the community!
If it’s been a while since you’ve stopped by Dobbit’s, now is the time to treat yourself! You can find their goodies at the bakery storefront at 7896 Hwy #7 from 7:30am-5pm Wed-Fri, 8am-5pm Sat-Sun, or from 10am-1pm at the Sunday MH Farmer’s Market.
